Maintenance Division
Overview
The Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of many of the public improvements and facilities Solvang residents and visitors see and use on a day-to-day basis. These include the public streets, storm drain system, sidewalks, street trees, public parking lots, public restrooms, and public buildings such as the Veteran's Memorial Hall. The health & safety of the community is a top priority of the Maintenance Division.
Service Requests
Is Christmas over and you need to dispose of your Christmas tree? Remove the ornaments, stencil and base, and leave at the curb by January 1. The City's waste hauler will take it away. If you miss this pickup, call (805) 922-2121 and schedule a free pickup.
City Facilities
City facilities operated and maintained by the Maintenance Division include the following:
City Hall, 1644 Oak Street
Public Works/Planning & Building/Parks & Recreation Building, 411 Second Street
Veteran's Memorial Hall, 1745 Mission Drive
Public Restrooms and Parking Lots
Roads & Storm Drains
Have you spotted a pothole? Is the sidewalk in front of your home uplifted? Have you spotted a faded STOP sign? Does the street tree in front of your home need pruning? Call the Maintenance Division for assistance. We're here to help.
Did you know that State law prohibits dumping anything down the storm drain system? Even grass clippings and leaves may not be dumped into storm drain inlets. Help keep our creeks and the Santa Ynez River clean and healthy by placing litter into trash containers and landscape debris into green waste barrels. You can help keep Solvang beautiful by picking up litter and disposing of it in trash containers.
Street Sweeping
All City public streets (outside the Village Area) north of Mission Drive are swept on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month, and south of Mission Drive on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month, between the hours of 7am and 2pm. The City Village Area streets are swept every Wednesday morning between the hours of 1am and 7am.
