📅 When: Saturday, September 20, 2025 (9:00 am to 12:00 pm)
📍 Where: Register here to show your favorite beach, park, or creek some love by participating in a local cleanup. There are 32 sites throughout Santa Barbara County (spanning from Jalama Beach to Carpinteria) that need your help!
🌿 Why: To reduce pollution, protect marine life, and preserve our stunning coastlines for future generations!
Bring your friends, family, and a spirit of giving back. Every piece of trash collected makes a huge difference! This year, the California Coastal Commission has added extra fun with a Trashure Hunt at select sites! While you’re picking up litter, keep an eye out for a hidden mini treasure chest—if you find it, you win a prize! It’s our way of saying thank you for volunteering, while adding a little adventure to the event. Be sure to snap a photo or video and share your win on social media to help inspire others to get involved.
You can find more information about the event at Explore Ecology's Coastal Cleanup Day or California Coastal Commission's Coastal Cleanup Day. If you can’t join us on the 20th, we encourage you to do a self-guided neighborhood cleanup any time during the month of September. Be sure to record your data using Ocean Conservancy’s Clean Swell® App and what you find will be included in Coastal Cleanup Day! Make sure to allow location services and add Explore Ecology as your group name.
