Louise Smith

Title: Councilmember District 3


Louise has been an active member of the Santa Ynez Valley community since 2005. She relocated from Santa Barbara in 2009, purchasing a home in Solvang. She has volunteered for many non-profit and for-profit organizations in both Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez. After earning a BA in Sociology, and attending law school, she earned her MBA with an emphasis in leadership and management. 

Louise’s past employment includes being a child advocate and family counselor while living in Pennsylvania, running her family’s telephone answering service in Santa Barbara as well as being an ethics advisor for a large hospital chain. When hurricane Katrina hit, the Santa Barbara Chapter of the American Red Cross asked her to join their team to process the many donations, thank donors and train for catastrophic events. 

Louise also has worked in and managed various tasting rooms for wineries throughout Santa Ynez Valley, and currently is the owner and principal chef of Louise’s Kitchen Table, a local business that offers private chef and catering services since 2004. As a sommelier, Louise enjoys teaching classes about wine and wine sales at Allan Hancock College.

Louise calls Solvang home and cares greatly about the community. She is committed to the health, safety and welfare of those who live in and visit this amazing and beautiful area.
