Randolph P. “Randy” Murphy
Randy Murphy is a native San Franciscan and lifelong Bay Area sports fan—meaning he has a deep and unapologetic dislike for all SoCal teams. He brings over 30 years of management experience, including 20+ in the public sector, with a strong background in public works, policy, economic development, emergency management, and strategic planning.
A lifelong learner, Randy earned both his BS in Business Management and Master’s in Public Administration while working full-time and raising a family. He has led teams of over 100 staff members and managed a wide range of responsibilities, including budgets, labor negotiations, audits, fleet management, safety compliance, and customer service.
In public service, he’s overseen $100M+ budgets, supervised engineers and surveyors, and regularly presents to councils, boards, commissions, and community groups.
Randy and his wife Debbie moved to Solvang’s Nyborg Estates in July 2023 and just celebrated their second anniversary. He has two grown kids—Meghan (recently married, living in Tampa) and Benjamin (a Navy vet, living near D.C.). Debbie brings four grown children and five grandchildren into the mix.
Outside the office, Randy enjoys golf, swimming (when there's a pool), and live music. He’s been to nearly 1,000 concerts—most recently AC/DC in Vegas—and is lined up to see Southern Culture on the Skids in November.
